About Gro1000Vote.com
Gro1000Vote.com is an independent informational website about community gardens, garden grants and the documented history of the GRO1000 people’s-choice garden vote. Our aim is to give organizers, volunteers and curious readers clear, practical information backed by public sources.
Why this site exists
In early 2015 this web address hosted an official public vote run by The Scotts Company LLC for a $40,000 community garden grant.* News stories from that time still link here. Later, other operators published unrelated content on the domain. Rather than leave those links pointing at unrelated material, the site now explains what the vote was and offers useful guidance for people who want to start or fund a garden.
* See our cited history of GRO1000, which links to the archived voting page and official rules.
What we do
- Publish practical guides on starting, running and funding community gardens.
- Document the GRO1000 program and the 2015 vote using public, verifiable sources.
- Correct errors promptly when we find them or readers point them out.
What we don’t do
- We don’t run votes, contests or giveaways.
- We don’t offer grants or accept grant applications.
- We don’t speak for Scotts Miracle-Gro, its Foundation, any GRO1000 grant recipient or any funder mentioned on the site.
- We don’t sell products, publish sponsored posts or sell links.
How we research
We rely on primary and authoritative sources: government agencies such as USDA and the EPA, official company announcements, peer-reviewed research, established news outlets and archived pages from the Internet Archive. Every guide lists its sources. Read our full editorial standards.
